NABH Pre Accreditation Entry Level Certification Standards Mandatory for Cashless Facility

The 2-year deadline set by the IRDAI is now coming closer and ends on July 12th, 2018

The Directive

On July 12th, 2016 the IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) issued a notification making it mandatory for all allopathic hospitals to meet with NABH’s pre-accreditation entry-level certification standards (or equivalent) if they desire to offer cashless facilities to their patients. The 2-year deadline set by the IRDAI is now coming closer and ends on July 12th, 2018.

A nervous healthcare industry watches

With only a couple of weeks to go, India’s healthcare industry is keeping a keen watch on further developments. There are approximately 33,000 hospitals empaneled with IRDAI that had been directed to comply with the mandate as per the initial notification during 2016. However, the fact that there are 400 odd hospitals currently with NABH pre-accreditation entry level certification and numerous facilities still in the process of getting certified, it is widely expected that IRDAI might extend the deadline.
