It’s not just about the looks
“People often think that good looks are
the only factor that airlines look for when
recruiting flight attendants, but that isn’t
true. We also look for individuals who
have fun personalities, are team players,
have the right people skills and are stun-
ning from the inside out. If that individual
is passionate about people, about working
as a team and about delivering excellent
customer service, then I think that working
as a cabin crew is the right job for him
or her.”
Around the world
“I’ve been in the airline industry since
1989 and I joined Firefly in 2007. I started
off flying as a cabin crew for Malaysia
Airlines, and then I became a Safety In-
structor and Examiner before venturing
into a managerial position. I’ve flown
all over the world, to so many countries
across many continents that it’s hard for
me to pinpoint my favourite destination.
Of course, flying around the world is an
amazing experience, however, I came to
a certain age when I asked myself how
long can I do this? Once I had a family, I
planned to move up to managerial level
and here I am today.”

140 cabin crew members under her, Lynette has the
challenging job of overseeing the training, recruitment and
management of the cabin crew department. The role of
cabin manager is primarily a leadership one, where she has
to be a role model who manages, coaches and inspires her
team to create a high performance culture that ensures the
consistent delivery of top-notch service.
