San Pedro Fiesta
June 27-July 2, Portuguese Settlement, Melaka

The annual San Pedro Fiesta - also known as the Fiesta of
St. Peter, the patron saint of fisherman - will be held once
again in Melaka. The fiesta is a significant religious event,
important to the Portuguese Catholic community. The
festival has many highlights such as decorative boats, a fun
fair, traditional Portuguese dances and an array of food.

Daniel Charity Run
June 26, Taman Metropolitan, Kepong, Kuala
Lumpur

This charity run is organised by Persatuan Kebajikan
Komuniti Harapan Selangor (PKKHS), a non-profit
organisation formed to aid the needy.
The proceeds will go towards the Daniel Training
Centre, which takes care of youths who are from less-
fortunate families. They provide them with a hostel,
education and food, as well as focusing on character
building and providing training for their future.
The goal of this fund raising programme is to provide
better living conditions with the necessary facilities for
students.

Love & Death At The Opera
June 17-18, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, Kuala
Lumpur

The featured work on this concert is a symphonic syn-
thesis of Wagner’s monumental Tristan and Isolde, a
tale of searing passion set in legendary time. Soprano
Tamara Wilson stars in the poignant, tender Willow
Song from Verdi’s penultimate opera Otello, and the
programme opens with a suite of orchestral numbers
from Carmen, the world’s most popular opera.
