TheDrivetrain
The ColoradoHigh Country is powered by
a 2.8L common rail direct injection diesel
enginewith variable geometry turbo
(VGT) and intercooler. VGTs use rotating
vanes in the turbine to optimise the
turbo’s aspect ratio, effectivelyminimising
turbo lag and increase engine efficiency.
The 2.8L engine has amaximumpower
output of 193hp and torque at 500Nm
(from2,000rpm) and ismated to a
6-speed automatic gearbox withmanual
mode shifting.
4-wheel drive capability is standard
across the Colorado range. The Colorado’s
4WD systemhas an electronic shift-
on-the-fly function that lets you switch
between 2WD and 4WDwhile on the
move as well as an empty axle shaft
function.

The High Country
The Chevrolet or ‘Chevy’
Colorado is the American
automaker’s mid-size pick-up
truck and is one of the few
‘global’ models sold outside

but in the United States, it
is dwarved by the Chevy
Silverado.

The Looks
The reviewunit is the facelifted 2nd
generation Colorado launched recently.
Most obvious is the updated front fascia
with squarer headlights, the addition of
LEDdaytime running lights, a re-profiled
bonnet, front bumper and fog light
housing as well as amore angular split
front grille.
The range-toppingHigh Country
variant reviewed here also sports a front
nudge bar, a sport bar at the flatbed,
a roof rail and chromemolding on the
windows. These newenhancements give
the Colorado amoremasculine look than
its predecessor. The tailgate however,
remains unchanged.
TheCabin
Themost notable change in the cabin is
the dashboardwhich draws inspiration
fromthe American version. Sitting in
the center of the dashboard is a revised
Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system
with an 8-inch touchscreen display and
7 speakers.MyLink now features Apple
CarPlay connectivity with Siri Eyes Free
and voice control; Android Auto is also
supported but not implemented just yet.
The instrument cluster has also been
updated, with a Driver Information Center
displaying trip information,maintenance
intervals as well as tire pressure. The
leather seats -with “High Country”
badging - are largely comfortable and
offer good support. The driver’s seat can
be electrically adjusted 6ways and the
front passenger seat getsmanual controls
but is height adjustable. Rear legroom is
also spacious even for lanky adults and
