inspiration for delicate art
pieces by artists of the past and present.
Christine Das happens to be one of them.
The Penang-born artist is highly regarded
in the local art scene for her Nature

“I obtainedmy Graphic DesignDiploma
at the nowdefunct Sain Academy of Art
Penang. I have always loved drawing and
colouring fromthe time I learnt to hold a
pencil. The love for art has never stopped
growingwithinme” says Das.
After 18 years of working, the boredom
of of the daily work routine kicked in and
it got Das thinking about her life and
its purpose. Aftermuch soul searching,
she decided to take a bold step by leaving
her job towork on contemporary art which
highlighted something that was very close
to her heart, that beingNature.
Das chose contemporary art (painting) as
her way to express her art sensibility after
realising howmuch she enjoyedworking
with themediumwhile shewas a scenic
painter/artist on the set of Hollywoodmovie,
Anna and the King. The filmwas shot in
Malaysia back in 1999. Working under Peter
Collias, she fell in lovewith the process and
the freedomof expression that camewith it.
