Exhibits on display include Disneyana
toys, Astro Boy, Batman, Bonzo the Dog,
DanDare, Popeye the Sailor and pre-war
Japanese toys. I wasmesmerised by the
toys that were on display here. There are
five levels of displays that transportedme
back tomy childhood.
The selection of Batman andDanDare
toys were amazing. Therewere toys that
I never knewexisted and I hadmy face
pressed up to the glass of the display units
like a small child. I spent a very enjoyable
and nostalgic hour there, walking down
level by level fromthe fifth floor, looking
at all the different toys on each level.
HowSweet
I came out of themuseum in a slight daze,
still marvelling at what I had just seen,
when I realised that I was hungry. I had
had lunch some time ago at Sin Swee Kee
restaurant, who - amongst other things -
served a delicious chicken rice set. The set
came completewith a drink as well, and
was really good value formoney.
I decided to pig out by treatingmyself
to a crepe at Entre-Nous Creperie, which
is located just next door to themuseum.
Run by StephaneMeunier andGeraldine
Porte, a charming French couple, this
restaurant serves crepes done in the
traditional Frenchway. Sweet and savoury
crepes are served here and I decided to
indulgemy sweet toothwithGeraldine’s
Favourite, a crepe servedwith homemade
salted butter caramel, cooked apples and
homemade vanilla ice cream.
It was absolutely delicious, and I
washed it downwith a very nice coffee.
The restaurant itself is very homely and
comfortable. It is best to have cash on you,
however, as the restaurant is not set up for
payments using a credit or debit card.
This street really comes alive in the
evening, as people sit at the outside
tables andmusic fills the night. Delicious
food is available, fromburgers to local
delights. Take a stroll here, youwill not be
sorry you did.
