This modern English translation
of the Greek classic is adapted by
MacArthur Fel low Anne Carson
in collaboration with Tony Award
nominee Ivo van Hove. It premiered
at the Brooklyn Academy of Music
in New York last year. Featuring

National Day Exhibition 2016

In conjunction with the National Day
celebration 2016, this exhibition will recall
the journey and fight to free the country
from the clutches of colonialism, as well
as the many challenges faced to achieve
independence.
George Town Festival

The George Town Festival is an annual
international arts festival that turns the
streets of UNESCO World Heritage Site
George Town into a giant canvas, inviting
artists from diverse fields like theatre,
dance, circus, puppetry andmanymore to
regalevisitors inamonth-longcelebration.
The festival was inaugurated in 2010 to
commemorate the George Town area
being awarded the tag of UNESCOWorld
Heritage site. In its seventh edition this
year, the festival has no central theme,
instead offering a platform for all kinds of
diverseart forms.Theprimary focusof the
festival, according to its director JoeSidek,
is to promote arts in the local and regional
communityandmakecultureaccessible to
all. That is why tickets are kept affordable
and a largemajorityof the events are free.
Every year, GTF also funds community
and student tickets to encourage the love
of arts in the local Malaysian community.
More than half the shows are by local and
regional performers.
