Review
Launched in 2011, the
RangeRover Evoque
compact luxury crossover
is still Jaguar LandRover’s
best-sellingmodel.
T
he
Evoque has hardly aged
since launch and only re-
cently received a mild refresh
with updated LED foglamps,
revised front bumper and
grille, tailgate spoiler with integrated
third brake light and redesigned rear
lamps that mirror the LED daytime run-
ning lights. Physically it still retains the
muscular shoulder lines and despite its
sleek looks, still have the Range Rover
vibe. Its urban ruggedness makes it a hit
with the younger demographics.
The Cabin
Although it looks sizeable on the out-
side, it is actually smaller than the BMW
X1. It is still rather spacious for the legs
but the sloping roofline that makes
the Evoque look sleek also affects rear
headroom. Seating 2 adults in the rear
is fine but a third will make it really
cozy. That said, the panoramic glass
roof helps to give the interior a more
spacious feel mitigating the shallow
height of the windows.
The driver gets a commanding front
view thanks to the raised height of the

vehicle but rer view is limited due to the
aforementioned roofline. Thankfully,
you get reverse camera view on the 8”
HD touchscreen display to help with
parking.
The touchscreen is also part of the In-
Control Touch entertainment suite with
navigation Bluetooth, voice command
and driving data. The interior wears
a lot of leather as you would expect
from a premium vehicle. My one gripe
about the interior is the brushed metal
strip on dashboard which sometimes
catches glare.
Cargo space is a usable 575 liters
which expands to 1,445 with the rear
seats folded so a weekend getaway or
a bit of shopping is no big deal for the
Evoque.
The Drivetrain
Powering the Evoque is the Si4 2-litre
turbocharged petrol engine. This is
basically the Ford EcoBoost engine and
