(KBF) was established by
Joyce Wong as a personal blog twelve
years ago, gaining such popularity
that it became one of the first blogs
for brands to approach when online
advertising took off in 2006. KBF has
now evolved into a boutique creative
agency currently divided into three major arms: social
media, PR and events, and the Store. Wong and her team
write about all manner of lifestyle topics including travel,
shopping, fashion and food, taking on commissions all
around the world.
Why did you decide to establish the blog?
I got into it for fun – that was the whole point of blogging
back when the concept first started. It was merely a
platform for people to jot down their daily thoughts and
ramblings. It was my form of a diary, as I’d been writing
one since I was 10 years old.

How has the blog evolved in that time?
Of course my style has changed throughout the past 12 years. In the
beginning I used to write in short form, tell stories and poems and edit
my photographs with patterns and text on them. Now I simply don’t
have the time, but the blog has taken up a more organised format,
with categories for art, travel, fashion, food, health, gadgets, etc.
Where did the name ‘KinkyBlueFairy’ come from?
When I first signed up I had to pick a username for my account. I
chose ‘Fairy’ at first – I’m obsessed with fairies and have two tattoos
of blue fairies on my back – but the username was already taken.
Then I wrote ‘BlueFairy’ and that was taken too. Out of desperation
and impulsiveness I threw in the word ‘Kinky’ in front of those two
words, and of course it was available!
