goes to two of her favourite
Chinese restaurants inKuala Lumpur in search of the prosperous delicacy.
What is it?
A
symbol of abundance, prosperity and
vigour, the
yee sang
is a Teochew-style
raw fish salad. Traditionally, the
yee sang
consisted of strips of raw fish – usually
salmon – with shredded vegetables
topped with a variety of sauces and
condiments. But today, many chefs
have gotten creative with their
yee sang
creations. Apart from the usual salmon
strips, some of the yee sang today are
topped with scallop, duck meat, octopus
and some luxurious choices like abalone
and lobster.
The Oriental Group
This
year, The Oriental Group
introduces two new
yee sang
selection,
the ultra-luxurious Spider Crab Meat
Traditional
Yee Sang
and the Grilled
Salmon Belly & White Truffle Vegetables
Yee Sang
. The latter, is definitely a
treat for salmon lovers as the delicious
salmon belly is grilled to perfection.
Besides the two new choices, The
Oriental Group’s
yee sang
menu this
year also sees six choices of
yee sang
making a comeback from last year. They
are the Jelly Fish, Salmon, Golden Crispy
Enoki Mushroom, Grilled Salmon Belly,
Soft Shell Crab and Hokkaido Scallop
and you can choose to have any of these
six items with the Traditional
Yee Sang
or the Modern Vegetables
Yee Sang
.
