startup eco-
system might be young
as compared to in Silicon
Valley but it is growing
at an impressive rate
especially for its Games
industry, helped by the
maturation of its games studios as well as
the influence of major accelerators, games
publishers and investors.
Looking to exploit these European
advantages, 10 teams fromGameFounders
Asia, a games accelerator based in Kuala
Lumpur, flew all the way to Finland and
Estonia for its demo day. The demo day
provided these game studios a platform

to connect with global game studios,
network with global games publishers
and investors as well as pitch to a global
platform. Catgear Games, Figment Games,
Peripio Games and Plug & Boom shared
some of their experiences with us.
Hacking in3D
Catgear Games comprises of Fauzan
Azini, CEO and co-founder as well as
co-founders Ridhwan Daud and Sani and
they all share a background in engineer-
ing. Their previous title, Doran Durian, a
3-D hack ‘n slash with dungeon crawling
elements, was among the 15 recipients
of IPCC winners, an initiative by MDeC.
“When we received an invitation to
be accelerated by Gamefounders Asia, we
could not describe how happy we were.
Gamefounders has shifted our ‘universe’
to a broader horizon by connecting us
industry players (as mentors) around
the world.” They found the experience of
being in Europe “a blast”, receiving good
feedback from publishers and business
players on its newest title, Catgear, as well
the opportunity meeting top developers
from around the world, mind-blowing.
Noble figures
Matte Whyte, Dominic Cabrera, Matt
