Media Familiarisation Trip To Kota Bharu
Firef ly Celebrates New Kota Bharu To Langkawi Flight

, in collaboration with the Lang-
kawi Development Authority (LADA),
held an event to celebrate its inaugural
flight from Kota Bharu to Langkawi. The
event was attended by VIPs such as Chief
Minister of Kedah, YAB Dato’ Seri Haji
Mukhriz Tun Mahathir; Chief Executive
Officer of LADA, Tan Sri Khalid Bin
Ramli; Senior Airport Manager of Ma-
laysia Airports Sdn. Bhd. (MASB), Arif
Jaafer; Langkawi Member of Parliament,
YB Dato’ IR Hj. Nawawi Bin Hj. Ahmad;
Ayer Hangat State Assemblyman, YB
Dato Hj. Mohd Rawi Bin Abd Hamid and
Kuah State Assemblyman, YB Nor Saidi
Bin Hj. Nanyan.
Also in attendance were representa-
tives fromMinistry of TourismMalaysia,
Tourism Malaysia Kelantan, Tourism
Information Center Kelantan, as well
as members from the Travel Trade and
the media.
The inaugural flight, the first of a
planned flight-schedule of three times
a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Saturdays, arrived in Langkawi at 12:55
pm. Travelers from Kota Bharu were
pleasantly surprised by a cultural per-
formance provided by LADA.
Firefly Chief Executive Officer, Igna-
tius Ong said, “This new route is espe-
cially strategic, as it offers connectivity
between Langkawi and Northeast Malay-
sia. Firefly offers the highest frequency
across the peninsular, and this new route
will further reinforce this fact.”

Penang, hosted a media familiarisation trip in Kota
Bharu for travel agents, hoteliers and members of
the media from Oct 9 to Oct 12. During the four-day
trip, all participants got to experience Kelantan’s
unique culture, traditions and the state’s famously
delectable cuisine.
Firefly’s Chief Executive Officer Ignatius Ong said, “Kota Bharu
and the state of Kelantan hosts beautiful destinations that have a
lot to offer in terms of unique experiences, culture and cuisine; and
we are proud to offer the public more opportunities to travel to and
from the state with the recently added routes.”
Firefly recently added a Kota Bharu–Langkawi route, offering
flights three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays).
Firefly has also increased the frequency of flights between Penang
and Kota Bharu to two times daily.

The new route is Firefly’s third route
to and from Langkawi, after routes from
Subang and Penang; and the fourth for
Kelantan, after Subang, Penang and
Johor Bahru.
