clock. Getting into a routine will help you sleep better.
Let the music heal your soul
Listen to your favourite song whenever things get a little out of
hand. Stick to softer, calming music, as it has a positive effect on
the brain and body, can lower blood pressure, and reduce cortisol,
a hormone linked to stress. If your playlist is a little too ‘edgy’
for this, try one of those CDs with ocean and nature sounds.
Eat right
Watch your diet as stress levels and food intake are closely related.
It is a known fact that most of us will immediately turn to sugary,
fatty snack foods as a pick-me-up when dealing with stress.
Fruits and vegetables are always good. Fish with high levels of
Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce the symptoms
of stress. Go on, have that tuna salad.
Get silly
It is such a cliché, but laughter really is the best medicine.
Scientifically, laughter releases endorphins that improve moods
and decrease levels of the stress-causing hormones cortisol and
adrenaline. Laughing tricks your nervous system into making
you happy. You do not have to start bursting into a fit of giggles
at any given time. Watch a funny Youtube video or read funny
articles and just laugh it off.
A fewsimple lifestyle changes can helpmanage stresswithout prescriptions and pricey
trips to the psychiatrist.

demanding jobs, financial troubles and
family crisis often get the best of us, to the
point that we sometimes find ourselves
feeling helpless and stressed out. Urbanites
have more than a 20% increased risk for
stress-related disorders than compared to
rural citizens.
Before your stress levels reach the danger zone, try some of
these simple stress relief techniques that actually work. Just keep
an open mind and give it a shot.
Get moving!
Start small by taking the stairs up to the office or leaving your
desk to stretch during a break at work. These light exercises can
offer immediate relief in a stressful situation. Exercise increases
blood circulation which helps releases endorphins, which will
improve your mood almost instantaneously.
Get enough sleep
Stress causes you to lose sleep and when you do not get enough
sleep, you will get even more stressed out. This vicious cycle
causes the brain and body to be out of sync and only gets worse
with time. Always make sure you get at least seven to eight hours
of sleep daily. Stick to a routine before hitting the sack by putting
aside the cell phone, brushing your teeth and setting the alarm
