for an update on her career, her travels and latest venture

H
aving
a career spanning over
four decades is not an easy feat,
especially for a local singer. Ella
has somehow managed to do
it while maintaining her pres-
ence in the local music scene
with successful albums and
energetic performances on stage that never seems
to deteriorate, even after all these years. The
Malaysian Queen of Rock tied the knot in 2012,
ending the dreadful questions and speculations
about her single status. After seven years without
any new solo material, Ella recently released
Istimewah,
composed by Sam Bunkface and
dedicated to her fans who have been supporting
her throughout.
“Malaysianmusic scene is different fromwhat
it was. A lot of changes have taken place, for
instance, music is now easily acces-
sible via streaming services like
Youtube, Spotify and Deezer. It
is good for our local scene as
we no longer have to rely
solely on radio stations
to get our materials out
there,” says Ella.
