Blood Curdling Facts About The
Master Of The Horror Novel
StephenKing is arguably themostwell-knownhorrorwriter of our time. Here are some
facts that you probably never knewabout theKing of themacabre.
He refuses to sign autographs: Onemyth suggested that it was
some sort of superstition of his. Another rumour said that if
King was sent a book to sign, he would burn it. The author
has gone out of his way to refute these rumours and claims
that the reason he does not sign autographs is because he
does not believe in the idolising of celebrities, and refuses to
play into that bymaking his autograph something to treasure.

He has a fear of flying: Other than spiders, the author has a
terrible fear of flying. It was made worse after a flight he was
on hit bad turbulence and the seat he was in was torn from
the floor and tipped over with him still strapped in.
He bought the van that ran him over: In June 1999, he was
hit by a van whilst out walking. The accident left him with
lung injuries, broken ribs, a broken leg and a fractured hip.
It took three weeks of surgery before he was released from
hospital and he was not sure that he would be able to write
again. During the time he was recovering, King managed to
buy the van from the police to prevent it from falling into
the hands of a fan.
Salem’s Lot is his favourite: King says that Salem’s Lot is his
personal favourite out of all the books that he has written. It
was originally titled Jerusalem’s Lot but his wife did not like
the name so he shortened it. King was planning on writing
a sequel to this vampire story but eventually abandoned
that plan.
He has directed some pretty bad movies: The writer was
unimpressed with Stanley Kubrick’s version of The Shining,
and in 1997, scripted a television miniseries of The Shining.
By all accounts, it was terrible. A few other directorial fails
led him to the decision to never do it again.
Some people think he killed John Lennon: The writer
has been accused of many things over the course of his
career, with some critics slamming his writing and readers
misunderstanding his intentions in his writings. The most
bizarre one has to be that some people think that King was
the man who killed John Lennon. The starting point of this
appears to be the writer’s semi-resemblance to the actual
murderer, Mark David Chapman.
