Stay sober
It would be safest not to do anything that impairs your judgement.
Stay sober and sharp and trust your instincts. If your gut feeling is that
something isn’t right, and you don’t feel comfortable or safe, then leave
as quickly as you can.
Drive yourself to and from the first meeting
Just in case things do not work out, you want to be in control of your
own ride back home, even if this means taking a taxi. Don’t accept a lift
home and get in the car of a complete strange.
Don’t leave personal items unattended
Do not run the risk of having personal information stolen by leaving
items such as your mobile phone unattended. If you do decide to have
a drink, ensure that it is with you at all times so that it does not get
tampered with.
Due to our busy lives nowadays, many people have turned to online dating sites to help
them possibly meet ‘the one’. Online dating can be a lot of fun but it also holds some
dangers. Here are a fewsafety tips to keep your dating experience enjoyable and safe.
Love Is In The Air...And Online
Fraud
You should never share your personal or finan-
cial information with people that you don’t
know. Don’t ever send money to someone
you have met online or share your credit card
number or bank information. There are certain
warning signs to look out for that may indicate
you are dealing with a scammer. These would
include someone who vanishes for the site then
reappears under another name, who claims to
be recently widowed, and who just blatantly
asks for money.
Guard your identity
You should not share your real name, phone
numbers, home address, place of work or
other identifying information until you have
established a reasonable level of trust with
the other person. Do not post personal contact
information in your profile or username.
Protect your online access
information
Be cautious when accessing your account from
a public or shared computer. You do not want
others to have access to your password or other
personal information. Consider disabling the
auto-sign in feature if you have linked an auto
log-in programme to your profile.
Always meet in public
Meet for the first few times in a public, well
populated location - never in a private or remote
place.
Tell a friend
Inform a friend or family member of your plans,
of when and where you are going. Ensure that
yourmobile phone iswith you and fully charged.
Set an agreed time where you will call your
friend or family member to check in.
