many dealers may not be able to provide
enough space for such displays. In 2012, our
first Kollektion Haus was set up in Austin
Hill, Johor Bharu.
Looking into plans for the company’s
2014/15 agenda, KLD is also keen to carry
other international brands including one
from France.
“Today, aesthetic design is one of the
consumers’ key requirements. It is always
the design that captures the eyes of a
consumer. For our market niche, price may
not necessarily be a major factor to them.
In the coming years, more attractive looking
products, which are also coupled up with
advanced technological and user-friendly
features, will be made available in our
stores,” said Chew.
There are currently six Kollektion
Haus concept stores located throughout
Peninsular Malaysia. Chew, who is also
the Group Executive Director of Pensonic
Holdings Bhd, said there are plans to launch
two more stores by March 2014 in the Klang
Valley. “The total of eight Kollektion Haus
concept stores will serve our customers
even better, including interior
designers.
“Kollektion Haus offers
a great shopping experience
with our stunning showrooms
and with the items on display,
customers can even have a
product trial. For the rest of the
coming year, we will continue
to make efforts to expand our
concept stores,” he adds.
With a personal motto
“always do your best”, Chew
also believes that one must be
responsible as an individual
and entity. He says, “The
corporate philosophy here
at Kollektion is in support of
‘impeccable living’ – creating
perfection in our lifestyle. At
Kollektion, we make sure to
always do our best in providing
innovative products that are stylishly
designed and easy to use, whilst meeting
the ever evolving needs of our modern
consumers.”
Chew, who is also the Vice President of
Branding Association Malaysia, is a man
from humble beginnings. He, along with his
siblings stayed above the family’s electrical
retail shop run by his father Dato’ Seri
ChewWeng Khak. “All my siblings and I
could see customers, suppliers, contractors
and technicians coming in and out of the
shop every day. From all this and observing
the daily operation of how business is
conducted, what I have learnt is that the key
words in being successful in business are
‘sincerity, honesty and responsibility’.”
What is the most important asset within
an organisation? Without a doubt, it’s
human capital – is his emphatic answer.
“I believe in people. Employees of any
company are the major assets that can
help grow or sink an empire. Having
sincere, honest and responsible people in
the company builds trust with customers,
consumers and suppliers alike.”

distributor

brands in Malaysia, namely
Lebensstil Kollektion, Princess,
General Electric and Gaggia
Milano.
Lebensstil Kollektion,
which simply means “lifestyle
collection” in German,
embraces a unique approach
to design excellence that
turns your kitchen into a
work of art. The Italian made
Gaggia Milano range of coffee
machines is synonymous with
the expresso coffee tradition all
over the world.
Princess, the world’s largest supplier
of small domestic products in chrome
represents the epitome of genuine “Dutch
Design”. Lastly, GE Monogram is world-
famous for its craftsmanship, fine details
and state-of-the-art technology. It is the
largest manufacturer of major appliances in
the world.
Kollektion Distribution Sdn Bhd (KLD)
was established in 2002. Its Executive
Director Vincent Chew said: “We started
off with the distribution of small premium
kitchen appliances by the brands of
Princess and Lebensstil Kollektion. It
has been distributed through most of the
departmental stores, electrical chain stores
and some other traditional dealers.”
After taking over the distributorship of
General Electric (GE) with their big ticket
items, KLD started to import more similar
range of items, such as refrigerator, washer
and dryer, built-in-oven, hood and hob, dish
washer, wine reserves and others.
“Two years ago, we planned out our own
retail outlets to market the full range of our
built-in appliances under various brands as
