have quite a
number of sing-
ing talents in
Malaysia. Some
have even made
it to the interna-
tional level which
we are all very proud of. Unfortunately in
today’s competitive world of entertainment,
it takes more than just great voice to become
a successful singer. Lucky for Amanda Imani
because holding the singer/songwriter title is
definitely a huge advantage for her.
Amanda took several baby steps leading
towhere she is in her career today. She began
singing professionally at the age of 16 and
released her self-titled debut Malay album
with hit song
Selamilah Cinta
which was
written by Ajai . She then began to dabble
with songwriting by penning down lyrics
for songs on her English EP
Yeah
. This was
followed with singles like
Cemburu, Like a
Boss
and
Billionaire Boy,
all fully composed
by the sultry songstress.

is the response fromyour fans so far?
It’s been fabulous! My fans are really happy
with the current concept and vibe of the
album. We’ve had great feedback from
people who bought and listened to the
album. It’s also great to be able to collaborate
with Starbucks and BordersMalaysia, as well
as contribute a portion of the album sales
to Make A Wish Malaysia and Malaysian
Independent Animal Rescue.

I went to Los Angeles to network withmusic
partners and producers. I actually worked
on my album in Malaysia. I did however
listen to some demos from other writers
and experimented in the studio while I was
in Los Angeles.
