T
here
was a time when
you wanted a 4WD, it
came as a proper off-
roader. Then it became
urbanised and turned into
a soft, square box. And
people soon got weary of
driving soft, square boxes. They wanted
something that drives like a sedan but
they didn’t want a sedan. And so the
crossover was born – the result of wanting
a high-riding position like an off-roader
but without any off-roading.
When i t comes to crossovers,
consumers today are certainly spoilt
for choice. From mass-market brands to
premium ones, it’s a pleasant headache
trying to pick one to suit your fancy. And
the Peugeot 3008 is one of them.
LOOKS
The 3008, which is based on the 308
hatchback’s platform, has been around
for some time and when first introduced,
The Lion’s Pride
had praises heaped on it for its stylish
appearance. It looks less like an SUV
derivative and more like a jacked-up
hatchback. It recently received a refresh
and now sports Peugeot’s new-style
kinky headlights. The rear lights have a
revised configuration featuring what looks
like a lion’s claw marks, a cue similarly
found on the 508 sedan. The fog lights
have been updated too and so has the
grille which updates it to Peugeot’s latest
corporate face.
