A total of 31 participants attended the
meeting representing 15 airlines including
aircraft manufacturers and observers.
Rounding up the seats were Virgin Aus-
tralia Regional Airlines as Vice-Chairman,
and Uni Air and PAL Express as Steering
Group Members.
The main aim of the forum was to
serve as a platform to promote flight safety
between turboprop and regional operators
in Asia Pacific.
It was stated in the forum that turbo-
prop safety performance is still lagging
behind big jets and more effort and focus
were required in this area, particularly in
approach and landing, controlled flight
into terrain, runway safety and automation
and infrastructure constraints.
It was highlighted that turboprop op-
erations today are at a level that cannot
be ignored, hence the gathering of safety
professionals at the forum.
Some key points discussed were, the
benefits of Safety Information Exchange,
Significant Incidents Exchange, Cabin
Safety for Turboprop Operations, Safety
Forum Structure and Identifying Future
or Potential Issues.
The airlines present at the forumwere
Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, MASwings,
Malindo Air, Virgin Australia Regional
Airlines, ANA Wings, Bangkok Airways,
Garuda Indonesia, Mt. Cook Airlines
(Air New Zealand), PAL express, Uni Air,
Wings Air, ATR and Embraer.
The second Asia Pacific Turboprop
Safety Forum is expected to be held on
Sept 2, 2015 in Kuala Lumpur.
