Embark on amemorable journey to Johor’s natural attractions
The Southern Wild
L
ocated
in the South of the
vast Malaysian Peninsula,
the state of Johor is host
to a total of six national
parks – a testament to the
sheer biodiversity of the
state’s natural heritage.
Be it the largest mangrove island in
the country, the oldest tropical lowland
rainforest in the world, or an enchanted
forest that is the mythological abode of
a legendary princess – each of the parks
bears its own unique characters.
The parks are managed by the Johor
National Park Corporation (JNPC), a statu-
tory body set up by the State Government
with the objective of preserving the land
for present and future generations through
conservation efforts.
Endau-Rompin (Peta) Johor
National Park
Endau Rompin Peta, Mersing, Johor is one
of the getaways into the Endau Rompin
Johor National Park. Covering 19,562
hectares, it is one of the remaining large
tracts of pristine lowland tropical rainforest
with an enormous amount of undisturbed
natural vegetation in Peninsular Malaysia.
There are many activities for adventur-
ers here such as jungle trekking, swim-
ming, bird watching, night-walking and
others.
Endau-Rompin (Selai) Johor
National Park
It is far removed from all the trappings of
modern civilisation and city living. Being
second entry point to the Endau-Rompin
Johor National Park (located in the district
of Segamat), it covers an area of 29,343
hectares. It was opened to the public after
the Second Scientific Expedition in 2002.
