nounced the winners of the inaugural Asia
Pacific edition of Project Aloft Star, in three
key competition clusters covering major
markets: Pandabros from China, Natania

The
hugely-successful Guinness Am-
plify campaign finished on a high note as
thousands of Malaysian music fans came
together to celebrate music Made of More
at the Finale Show in KL Live. Topping the
bill were rising stars Magic!, the Canadian
Nu Reggae act that has taken the world by
stormwith their multi-platinum smash-hit
single Rude.
Guinness Amplify: MusicMade of More
touredPeninsularMalaysia for sevenweeks,
bringing together some of the very best
artists Malaysia has to offer in a showcase
of the passion, talent, and dedication that
the local musicians possess. Eachweekend
saw a free-admission gig at various venues
in Klang Valley, Johor, and Penang, before
returning to KL for the Finale Show.
The extraordinary showcase at KL Live
kicked-off with local electropop heroes
Dash taking the stage with a high-energy
set which delighted their fans and got the
audiencewarmed up and ready to rock out
to an incredible evening of livemusic. Their
performance was followed by a unique
showcase of musical maestro OJ Law’s
‘Banana Indie Soulrocktronica’.
Following these two talented local acts
would be a challenge for anyone, but it was
a task that Magic! was more than a match
for. TheNuReggae four-piece fromToronto
took the stage to the screams of thousands
of music fans eager to catch the band in
their first ever performance in Malaysia,
Amplify with Magic!
andwowed the crowdwith a performance
worthy of the band’s name.
Magic! took the crowd on a journey
through their new album, Don’t Kill the
Magic to the obvious delight of fans, before
finishing on smash-hit debut single Rude,
which has taken the world by storm,
earning the number one spot in the US and
UK singles charts and goingmulti-platinum
along the way.
The band’s fresh, up-beat Reggae-
inspired riffs had music fans raising their
glasses of Guinness in the air in apprecia-
tion, providing an absolutely thrilling end
to a phenomenal campaign, which has
inspired thousands of music fans all across
the country.
Lalwani from India and Clinton andAshley
from the Southeast Asia cluster consisting
of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. As
a music talent discovery competition,
Project Aloft Star aims to identify and
support the hottest emergingmusic artists.
The three-month competition kicked off
on 30 June and received more than 200
original video submissions from music
talents across the five countries. Fans
also placed over 170,000 votes for their
favourite entries via online voting.
All 15 finalists had the opportunity of
a lifetime performing at the finals held
in China, India and Malaysia in front
of a panel of judges comprised of Aloft
Hotels, MTV and music industry execu-
tives from Asia. The finalists were judged
on the following criteria: song-writing
and music composition, creativity and
originality, technical skill, “wow” factor,
and showmanship and stage presence.
Winners were awarded a US$10,000
cash prize and will be featured in MTV
Seen, a video spot of the competition
that will air on MTV Asia, MTV China
and MTV India’s channels this month.
They will also be featured in individual
vignettes on MTV’s respective websites.
In addition, Clinton and Ashley from
Malaysia was invited for a three day,
two night all-expenses paid trip to Seoul,
South Korea and given the opportunity
to perform at the opening of Aloft Seoul
Gangnam slated for 14 November 2014.
