irefly
is the first airline company to introduce the
use of the ATR 72-500 in Malaysia for domestic and
regional flights. The aircraft is reputed to be one of
the most economical and environmentally friendly
aircraft in existence. Increasing global awareness on
carbon emissions and its effects on the environment
is giving jet aircrafts certain setbacks. Firefly comes
into the picture at quite the right time with its turbo propeller aircraft.
With better fuel efficiency, as well as lower vibration levels and noise
emission, the aircraft is proven to be environmentally friendly and
economical with the same jet-like comfort.
Marking its seventh year in the industry, Firefly has instantly
taken charge in demonstrating strong commitment to reduce carbon
emissions and has adopted a responsible attitude towards climate
change. Rising towards an exceptional growth in the aviation scene,
this of course includes effective implementation that considers
both innovative methods in utilizing existing technologies and cost
effectiveness. As part of its Support Green efforts, Firefly believes
in adopting the practice of using the earth’s resources in the most
sustainable fashion in our working culture as the following:
Reduce
• Firefly reduces wastage and goes paperless while encouraging a
ticketless environment through web and mobile booking. This
promotes a greener environment by using less paper and saving
more trees.
• Firefly’s core service is to fly secondary routes which have
shorter flying distance. Short haul flights mean less air time, which
translates to less fuel burnt, and less carbon emission, plus saving
on fuel.
Reuse
Firefly flies to smaller non-city airports from our base in Terminal
3, Subang (city airport) and Penang to places such as Kuantan and
Koh Samui. Reusing existing airports is key as our operations are
made to grow by using existing facilities and reducing wastage.
Recycle
Firefly aims to be fully rid of non-biodegradablematerials in all aspects
of its operations to promote recycling. The company is working
towards placing recycle bins to encourage staff and passengers to
practice recycling.Firefly contributes to the global effort in reaching
greater heights as people around the world, especially the aviation
industry, work towards a low carbon economy. This is in line with
the initiatives of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC).
