Impromptu
H
alijahHarun,
a
Malaysian air stewardess
with Firefly, has been
flying straight out of
high school and has
never looked back. With
a son just completing
Form Five secondary studies and about
to take the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia)
examination – we wish them both great
successes ahead. Halijah, whose smile
lights up the room instantaneously, brings
an appreciation for a role that is often
overlooked today.
“We must always have faith in
ourselves, patience, and above all, value
the passengers who fly with us, for we
are providing them with an experience in
travel. A wise man once said that travel
is not so much the destination, but the
journey you take to reach your destination.
That has always struck me, as right … just
about right.”
Here are her answers to all our quick
fire questions:
ATR 72-600
“The ATR 72-600 to me are cosier than the
ATR 72-500. Their plush leather seats and
very efficient air-conditioning make for a
pleasant journey up in the clouds. However,
I have developed an affinity towards
the ATR 72-500 in particular. I suppose
familiarity with these planes grows on you
the more you travel with them.”
Keeping Fit
“Irrespective of one being a school teacher,
a cook or even a salesman, staying in
shape is one of the best ways of presenting
yourself. Our new uniforms are one piece
suits, there is no way one might forget to
bring either part! It is also a very good way
to motivate our staff to always keep fit and
healthy.”
