We are retired hobbyists with an avid interest in old porcelains, especially Chinese, Asian and Oriental wares. We used to be fairly active in our hobby for some 25+ years and collect a wide variety, usually vintage and old pieces from everywhere. We have many pieces/items from various sources including estate sales, porcelain shops, antique shops, auction houses and friends. We also acquire pieces from old family collections offered to us from time to time. Some pieces from our old collection are featured on our webpage. Our favourites are famille rose items and chinese export silver featuring auspicious motifs. We generally do not collect shipwreck items or funerary relics as these are not great for Feng Shui. Our periodic ebay activities help to trim down our collection to a more manageable level and allow us to go on discovering and collecting occasionally. We do not sell replicas and reproductions, period. We enjoy our activities and hope that you enjoy yours too on ebay, whether buying or selling or just browsing. |

Such wares were exported from Jiangxi, China to South East Asia in the 19th Century/early 20thC for use by the affluent Straits Chinese communities in Penang, Malacca, Singapore and parts of the Indonesian Archipelago. The design motif was customised to suit the taste of the Straits Chinese and typically features phoenix among rockery and peony blooms. These are auspicious symbols of prosperity and good fortune, highly regarded by the Peranakans and are also widely represented on their beadwork and embroidery. |
